This is a large, level, gravel campground. Some trees, but probably 10 years from being real shade. Friendly staff. Had the pancake breakfast which was OK and at a reasonable cost. Verizon cell and aircard signal was very good. Not very busy, so campers were spread out. Utilities and cable were good. We would stay here again.
All of the previous reviews are on point. Verizon cell and air card signal strength is very good. Have stayed here before, so knew what to expect... including the heat. Currently, hotter than hell.. about 115 during the day and 80 at night. No tables at sites, and no grass, but there is a club room building with a covered patio to get out of the direct sun. Would stay here again. "More Gin and Tonic ...please.
It was very, very windy, 20 to 50 mph the day we arrived. The sites are all gravel and so very dusty. The Verizon cell and aircard signal is very good. Some areas of the campground will get noise from the highway. There is not much grass, but lot's of trees.
Rate is with GS discount. As noted in earlier reviews, in the middle of town and good if you are walking or riding a bike. If you have a toad, would stay somewhere else. There is road noise from the main street thru town. Interior roads are gravel, and nary a blade of grass anywhere so it makes it dusty. Not to mention that the family dog prefers some grass, somewhere.. Does have mature shade trees. Sites are close, but not cramped. Utilities and cable are OK. Verizon cell and air card signal is very good. 15 years ago, the last time we were in Moab, it was a very small and laid back town. It has grown a great deal and is pretty busy. As indicated earlier, would stay at Sliprock or Oasis, based on a drive by, because they have shade and grass.
When you get to the entrance, you pass thru the entrance to a mobile home park. This gives one pause. But, it is not part of the campground. Very nice park. Interior roads and sites are gravel. Sites are level. Large areas of grass everywhere. Very large, mature shade trees. Separate area for ATV sites with it's own ATV gate. Verizon cell and air card signal strength was very good. Friendly staff. Would stay here again.
Rate is without Good Sam discount, as they do not honor during the week of the "Hot August Nights" rally. This is where a lot of folks show: including cars from the 50's and 60's. As at most of these rallies, prices go up, including gas. Gas went up about $0.12 since we got here. The park is very nice, easy access and all pull-throughs. They do not even ask the length of your rig as the sites are all large concrete pads with room for your toad. Very clean, neat and well laid out, with grass at every site and a small table. The temperatures have been in the mid 90's, with isolated thunder showers, so the 50 amp was needed. The Verizon cell and air-card strength was very good. Can be windy: a motorhome neighbor lost it's awning. Would stay here again.
As noted in earlier reviews, I would not call this a 'resort' but it does charge like one. The rate is with GS discount. The park is easy in and out. Interior roads are blacktop, sites are gravel, and there is a very large concrete patio and grass between every site. Pull throughs are roomy and level. Verizon cell and aircard signal is very good. The entrance is easy to miss and the park is located down a hill and not easily visible from the road. Also as noted earlier, there is train noise, with whistles throughout the night. Not much in the way of noise from I-80.
Rate is with a KOA card. Escorted to our site. A nice park with shade and mostly level sites. Locals say they have not had much rain this year, so the area is a little on the brown side. Most of the water is allocated to the farms. This is a little outside of Durango proper, but an easy drive. Currently, the weather is very pleasant. Would stay here again.
As reported earlier, sites are very close to each other. We called about two weeks ahead, and were told only water & electric were available, which was OK. We checked in and was sent to site #43. They have a check out of 12 noon and a strict check in at 1 PM because of watering. As a matter of fact, while checking in, the curb side of the MH was washed, we had to towel it down. The site we were sent to, was about three inches under water. Mama went to the office, saying it was not for us as it was too small and we expected that with size, weight and jacks that we would sink. They said we reserved that particular site, which was baloney. We were given another site which was better. That said, the park was OK and quiet. Verizon cell and aircard connections were very good. As mentioned earlier, it is the only game in town. We would stay here again, as it is very close to Yosemite, which was the purpose of the stop.
Rate is with Good Sam discount. We have stayed here almost every year over the last twenty years. It is a good stop if you are heading north from the LA/Orange County area as it is a good day of traveling, without pushing it. The sites are mostly sand/gravel and mostly level. It could be a little better. Most all pull thrus have trees, which is good for shade, which is good as it is in the high 90's right now. But, the trees need some trimming, especially the lower parts, as it is close and/or touching the slidouts. It does have 50 amp, which is needed right now. Our site and those around us, have the cable hookup with a male connector, went to the well stocked store, checkin desk to get an adapter, which they provided quickly and free of change. The cable TV has nine channels, of which some are fuzzy, but is passable.
The rate reflects senior discount. As mentioned earlier, sites in the full hook up area can handle big rigs, as they are very long pull through. The few outside spots, as we had, were around the edge of the campground were like scallops and had the hookups curbside, so make sure you're close enough for sewer hookup. Most sites are level, however several seemed to be sloped. It is quiet, very quiet. We went to see wildflowers, and were not disappointed. It was very windy, one of the four days we were there. 40's at night, 60's and 70's during the day. We came in from the west, rte 79 to S22. Very steep, long and windy got me thinking of a brake setup for the toad. The showers and toilets are concrete, walls and floors, and showers cost $. We did not use the facilities. Mama does not like desert, she found it too dirty, but I would go again. Verizon cell and air card access was very good.
As stated in previous reviews, the side by side hookups can cause some real closeness. We had site # 12, an end site and did not have anyone across from us. Nice, with a greenbelt and a fire pit. # 13 is similar. Did not look others. Quiet, very quiet. Wi-Fi was offered, but use Verizon air card and reception was very good. We have family in the Pismo area and found this to be the better campground of all of the other places we have stayed, including Pismo Coast Village. Had to get propane, which was a little awkward because of the location of the filling station, but the staff were very helpful. Would stay here again.
Would agree with everything in the previous review. Would add that the sites are pretty much level, saw a couple of spots that looked fairly slanted. The interior roads are kind of narrow, but can handle bigger rigs. The sites are all gravel, which worked well for the couple of days we were here, as it rained a bunch. As to the train noise, the first train of the day is around 7 AM and the last train is around 8 PM. Verizon air card signal was very good.
As mentioned in earlier reviews, very windy in the afternoon. Very quiet. Does not allow ATV's in the campground. Very dusty, as all sites are gravel and dirt. Some train noise, but not too much. Bunches of raccoons, so don't leave anything outside. Would stay here again, but not first choice, because of dirt and dust, Mama's words. Stayed in the upper campground. The lower campground would not see the dunes, sunset, but would avoid the winds (I think). Fairly level sites, but saw some with extra blocks for leveling.
